How did you decide to get into your line of work?

I have always wanted to become a carpenter as a young person and this lead to me being a self employed builder/carpenter. As work got busier and jobs got bigger i formed a company which is now called PMRM Building Services P/L. The company has been trading since 2005 but has experience of over 25 Years

What do you like most about your job?

As the working director of PMRM Building Services P/L i have always loved being a carpenter and doing the unusual  and hard to get to jobs.I have done jobs from as small as replacing door hardware to project managing and assisting  designing a 10 Million dollar architectural home. Most of all I love the interaction with my clients and seeing them enjoy the experience of the build/ renovation of their property

PMRM building services has been trading in the residential and commercial industry for many years with over 25 years experience in the building and carpentry industry. PMRM has a diverse range of trades in which we can cater to many different types of jobs.  Specializing in renovations, extensions, decks, pergolas and all new works including pools. PMRM also can advise and have all works drawn ready for council and/or comply and developement so you can have a easier time getting your works completed.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

are the works ready for pricing and/or have council drawings or do they require drafting/architectural drawing.do they require other professional trades to complete works

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

Tip i can suggest 1 have the project at hand complete in your mind as this helps the builder get a better idea of what they have to price. 2 have some drawings and a specification on what you want as fixtures and details of job. 3 make sure all items that are in the way of building works that are yours are out of the way as these can cost money to replace and/or move

What makes your pricing competitive?

PMRM Building Services P/L tries to be as competitive as possible but due to insurance costs most small companies will be a little dearer than the sole trader who doesn't hold the correct insurances or any workers insurances Eg Workers compensation and/or superanuation

How do you normally charge for your service?

Accepted Answer

There are several ways in which i charge for works. 1.lump sum pricing-if all information is up front 2. Cost plus - hourly rate plus material with a percentage charge 3. hourly rate only - owners supply all material

PMRM Building Services P/L specializes in all renovation and extension works, Decks, pergolas and all back yard renovations PMRM also builds new dwellings on hard acces sites and architecturally designed buildings All works are insured

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

PMRM Building Services P/L has over 25 yrs experience in the building industry ranging from small decks to 4.5 million prestige architectural builds. We have all the trades to build your building/home to having them designed if you dont have anyone to help with that. We can also help with interior design if required
