Are you an insured business and do you guarantee your work?

I am insured for 20mil Public Liability Insurance.  For peace of mind I am happy to provide my customers with a valid "Certificate of Currency" prior to commencement of work.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

My grandfather was a reputable builder and from a young age I had an interest in building.  It was inevitable that on completing high school I immediately enrolled in a Carpenter - Joiner apprenticeship and it is with pride I say today I still enjoy the same passion for my trade now as I did then.

What do you like most about your job?

I like the diversity that being a carpenter brings.  From assisting customers with concept and design through to building and development allows creativity with construction.  The ever changing workplace of being at different sites working indoors and outdoors is an added attraction of the trade.

Are you qualified, licensed and insuranced!  How much will it cost and how and when will you require payment or payments?  How long will it take? Ask for a written quote or contract and ensure that it details the scope of works?  Don't be afraid to ask for referees that you may contact for a reference.

Customers generally ask up front how much a job will cost site unseen.  As there are so many variables in building most times I ask to visit the site to inspect structural requirements and get detailed work requirements to provide accurate information, advice and pricing as required.

You need only visit my website to see the consistent positive reviews from past happy customers.  In this day and age of social media and google reviews, you will not find a negative comment about my service.  I guarantee to turn up when I say I will and turn up on time.

I am experienced, licensed and insured but more importantly I'm a tradie who turns up when he says he will.  I have over 15 years experience in the trade from building new homes to renovating existing.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

Depending on the type of job, measurements of areas requiring work and the type of product and quality you would like used.  Example:  How big you want a decking or the size of a window or door etc.  Does the customer want to arrange their own trades people or do they want the job project managed where multiple trades exist?  Do you have an expected time frame by which to start and complete works?

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

1.  If you have a scope of the work you need done this can save time and money planning materials and labour.  2.  Be flexible and understand that some ideas may need to change based on structural or legislative restrictions, practicality or your budget.  3.  When more than 1 trade is required to complete a job, ask questions to understand the best sequence in which to coordinate them and try not to squeeze all trades into a small space working at the same time on the same day.

We are not trying to undercut the competition or shortcut on quality and therefore we do not offer budget pricing.  We charge a fair price for excellent workmanship and use the appropriate standard and quality of product that you need for the job at hand.  Whether you're looking for fixed pricing or pay by the hour, we can accommodate your requirements.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Generally for small jobs I require full payment on job completion via cash, cheque or EFTPOS.  For larger jobs I require a 10% deposit then progress payments as outlined in a contract.
