I guess it depends on the job itself.  If there is any part of the job that you can do yourself and is comfortable with then do it!! I would also say shop around for things you want and need for the job you could pay hundreds at one place for something then somewhere else could have it a lot cheaper.

I generally go off a daily rate, though I like to inspect the job first before I can give an exact price as I don't want to over charge or under charge
