Location: South Morang, VICJob Description: my name is Tiffy I'm totally blind hearing-impaired I live on my own in a 1 bedroom apartment on the ground floor and I had a massive basin leak that destroyed the adjoining wardrobe of another apartment back in 2023 although I didn't discover how bad it was until 2024 when I was forced even though I am on a disability support blind pension to get the leak sorted out when I finally found out what was going on and at the time there wasn't any waterproofing! After the basin was taken out last year I discovered due to a friend helping me discover what the smell was a rust stain it was quite big from the edge of the concrete floor beginning where the tiles start into the middle of the concrete floor and that area has not been tiled yet and never was! I got David Tilling who is a waterproofer and a tiler to have a look at the stain and he scraped off some of this rust, but he didn't know that scraping it off wouldn't get it all off and the waterproofing is on top of that now but the smell still remains even though it comes and goes at times, but there are times when the smell is so bad that it covers my whole house and I need someone who I can understand who speaks clearly to come and inspect this area but right now I don't have any money because I'm on a pension and I'm trying to save up for a major appliance that is broken in fact I need to save up for a few of them and that's why I can't start anything just now and I don't have the money to pay for an inspection either I apologise for that! This is nothing to do with the NDIS so I would rather not discuss the NDIS because this is nothing to do with them this is a private matter and what I mean by that is, the government aren't involved with this! I own this property and Believe you me this smell can smell like cooked food that was severely burnt, it then changes to the iron smell of rust, then it can change to a perfume like smell, and then it turns into nothing and I've never had this happened to me before! Before I had the basin taken away I used an app called Be My Eyes and I asked the volunteer to identify if the rust was caused by The basin that was leaking and the volunteer at the time confirmed that the leak was indeed caused by the faulty vanity basin and she also confirmed that the marks were as a result of that and that is what caused the rust stain that until now I didn't know could smell! The basin that leaked has indeed been taken away and that was last year, and my new basin which is new in the box but not brand-new now has not been installed yet because I believe I will need someone to demolish this floor to try and discover where that section that is still stained is and that will mean removing the waterproofing as well from the concrete, but I can't do that right now and even if I could I would need to be careful because there is a sua pipe that is at the back where The wall begins and we need to be careful not to destroy that as well! I posted this job last week but it was automatically closed after a week because no one responded and I need to know what I'm up against here before I begin anything! Right now I just need an inspection only! Once that floor is demolished if I can get someone to help me when the time is financially right for me, I will then need as long as that stained old section has been cut out new concrete put in and the old stuff taken away because I'm in an apartment and I've got nowhere to keep that to get someone else to take it away, and I will also need my toilet and shower covered and protected so there's very little dust on them because it will be a major job and I need someone who can help me take it on! I probably won't be able to start anything until next year because I am not in a financial position to do anything right now but the inspection is important so I know what I can do and I need someone who is experienced and speaks extremely good English so I can understand what's happening, and because I'm totally blind I need someone who is extremely knowledgeable and will tell me everything that is happening including what you are about to do! Location: South Morang, VICJob Description: hello my name is Tiffy I'm totally blind hearing-impaired and I've got an unusual case! I need the concrete floor in my bathroom inspected to find out where the rust has penetrated although that might be difficult thanks to the waterproofing that is on top! Given I am on a disability support blind pension I am unable to start work straight away, but I need to know where the rust could be or how much it would be to take up that whole concrete floor which is exposed as there is no tiling yet! This is the result of a massive basin leak in 2023 that wiped out my section of the bathroom wall not to mention the adjoining apartments wall in their wardrobe and what I didn't know was after the basin was taken out there was a massive rust stain that lead from the side of the concrete floor right into the middle and this was before the waterproofing! David Tilling who is my tiler and waterproofer didn't know that scraping the area wouldn't get it completely off so he put the waterproofing on top of what we did not know was the rest of the rust stain and unfortunately after the smell of the waterproofing went I could smell this strange smell again and it's sometimes changes the smell for example it would smell like iron like rust is supposed to smell like but then it will sometimes change to The smell of cooked food and I don't cook in there, and then sometimes the smell changes to the scent of perfume even though there's no perfume in there, and sometimes it disappears altogether! Quite frankly I'm sick of it and unfortunately as I said I won't be able to get any work done straight away in fact it won't be until next year when I might be able to start the work but right now I just need an inspection of the area to tell me what you can do and because I'm totally blind I can't measure on my own so I don't know how small the area is but it's big enough for a Vanity basin to fit in that spot and I do have a vanity basin but nothing has been installed yet because I'm trying to get rid of this rust stain and I don't think this can be done without drastic measures and that might be removing the concrete that is there including the waterproofing from that concrete and then putting new concrete down when I've got the money for that! Right now all I need is a free inspection if anyone offers that, and I need someone to offer pay ID when the time is right for the job because it's easier for me to pay you that way! as I said I can't start right now because there is a shitload I need to save up for, and I was trying to figure out if there might be another method I could use to get rid of the rust stain that is underneath the waterproofing because I had a handyman remove the stain that was on the side of the concrete that hadn't been waterproofed yet and he managed to get rid of that lot, however I can still smell it quite a bit and only when it decides to rear its ugly head so I think the only way to get rid of it is to remove that concrete floor and make sure that once it is removed when I can do it that there won't be a rust stain left behind, and then after that is all cleaned up then the new concrete goes in and as I said it won't be happening yet I'm just looking at an inspection if anyone can offer that and a free quote so that I know what I can afford when I can afford it does that make sense? also I would prefer a Concretor who has their own industrial vacuum cleaner because my domestic vacuum cleaner is not designed to pick up construction dust or little bits of concrete once a demolition does begin because domestic cleaners like miele don't have far as I know offer vacuum cleaners that can cope with that type of construction material so I'm hoping someone can fulfil this requirement! I won't hire anyone until I know someone can help me, but remember I can't pay for a quote just yet I need a free quote if possible and I also need to know how the cleanup will begin once the concrete is removed when I can start that process! if and when I decide to go through with this and only when I've got the money because that may not happen till next year as I said, surfaces such as my shower and toilet will need to be protected as much as possible from dust and debris! I live in a 1 bedroom apartment on the ground floor and my address is unit 3 3 vangelica way South Morang VIC 3752 and I understand that most trades now will have some fuel levy because of the crisis in the Middle East I get that, but I am on a disability support blind pension I don't have a lot coming in, the money only gets paid once a fortnight and I need to know if this is even possible what I'm looking at doing!
