  Initially indicated $400k - $420k to build our project, after a meeting increased this very rough indication to $420k - $450k. Then requested a $495 design fee to be paid to firm up the quote, made a promise that they would return the fee if the quote was $1 over $450k. After some time insisted that both me and my wife attend the office to be presented with the firm quote, at this meeting presented an offer that was over $500k. Obviously wouldn’t have agreed to the $495 design fee if I knew the quote was going to be over $450k as this was completely out of budget. Now they won’t agree to return the design fee as originally promised. Wasted our time and money.
