Q. What is a Domain Name? A. A domain name is www.example.com.au, it is what people will type in to get to your website.  Q. What is Hosting? A. Hosting is where we store your website files in high-powered computers (web servers) connected to a very fast network. When someone types in your domain name, the Internet connects to the web server holding your website files and then transfers your website information back to their computer.  Q. Are there any ongoing costs involved? A. If you require Domain name and/or hosting this will be your only ongoing cost which is paid either every 12 months or every 24 months.  Q. What is a content management system (CMS)? A. A content management system (CMS) is an online platform enabling you to administer the website. This allows you to make changes to text and images on the website.  Q. What is secure sockets layer (SSL)? A. SSL is a way of encrypting data sent over the internet. This means that before the data is sent it is encrypted in a way that makes it unreadable if intercepted. When it comes to information such as personal details, usernames and passwords or credit card details the use of a SSL is crucial. Ensuring that sensitive data is encrypted using SSL makes it virtually impossible for it to be stolen and used without your consent.  Q. How long will it take to get my website up and running? A. Time varies and depends on the client. Most websites take approximately 2 weeks. If your thinking about getting a website to speed things up you can have all your text and images ready to go. If you have a deadline please let us know and we can certainly work with you to get it ready before your deadline.  Q. What is search engine optimisation (SEO)? A. Search Engine Optimisation or SEO is the simple activity of ensuring a website can be found in search engines for words and phrases relevant to what the site is offering. In many respects it’s simply quality control for websites.  Q. Why don’t you offer any guarantees for SEO? A. We do not guarantee placement unless you are participating in a pay-for-placement search engine program (Not currently available at Webpage Me)  Despite what other online marketing companies claim, no one can guarantee top search engine placement because there is a 3rd party who has all of the control: the search engines. What we can guarantee is that we will help you with keyword selection, meta-tag and other web copywriting, submission, and optimal site design architectures for the search engines.
