We are a fully insured business and all our work is done to Australian Standards.

How did you decide to get into your line of work?

Working with my hands has always been a forte of mine, and the building industry was always where I was wanting to be. Plumbing in particular covers a whole range of skills and knowledge and the industry is always changing and evolving and this was very appealing to me, and I've never looked back.

Do you have a favourite customer story you would like to share?

We had an emergency call out for a blocked drain. The owner was an elderly lady who had guests arriving shortly and her whole house was completely blocked up. Upon arriving on the job, we learnt that her husband had recently passed away and the family were arriving to deal with the funeral. It was also her birthday on this day. Long story short is we never charged her a cent for the job, instead wished her a happy birthday and helped her tidy some of her yard.  From this we had call after call for work all around the area from this elderly lady telling all her friends and family about the plumbers that came to her aid on this day.

What do you like most about your job?

The diversity of work that we cover every single day in our job. No 2 days are ever the same, and this is what keeps us interested in our work and always happy to be there.

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

Accepted Answer

A customer should always start by telling the plumber what the job at hand is they would like done. The response should always be "Not a problem, happy to help". The best way is to have an onsite inspection and you will soon know if the plumber is confident in both knowledge and expertise on the job.

What questions do customers commonly ask and how would you answer them?

A very common question is "Are you a gas-fitter aswell?" The answer is YES.  Plumbing and Gas-fitting often come hand in hand, but you should always check to ensure that your plumber is Licensed for both Plumbing and Gas-fitting before agreeing to any work.

You can rely on us to get exactly what it is you are after, and if you need help in any design aspects, or choosing your fixtures we are more then happy to help. Our customers are left with an overall enjoyable experience of what a professional Tradesman is all about.

Time and time again we hear from our customers that they would only like to use WA Plumbing in the future.  And this must be true as 99% of our work comes from word of mouth.  We feel this is because we pride ourselves on making sure our customers are left with the best possible job, an understanding of the job, friendly faces and a clean and tidy place after we have left.

What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

In the case of hot water system replacements, what the existing one is and what the new one is you would like installed.  We need to know what fixtures you are using.  How far away service connections are.  Are the services in the roof space or buried in the ground? Is the burst water main in PVC, Copper or Poly? the more information you can tell your plumber over the phone, the better the understanding we will have in regards to helping you out with a great price.

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

There are many ways customers can reduce their price.  Keeping to the original plan is first and foremost, the more extras along the way, the more the job will be.  Making use of existing fixtures and not changing things around too much is another. Exposing areas to worked on such as digging, tile removal and jack hammering, these are all labour intensive jobs and can take hours and dollars off the final invoice.

What makes your pricing competitive?

The knowledge we have of the plumbing industry, what is available to make the most of any job and the fastest and most efficient ways are all factors that we feel give us the edge in todays plumbing game. We keep up to date with purchasing the latest tools for the latest technologies which enables us to be in and out in a timely manner without sacrificing the overall qaulity of the job.

How do you normally charge for your service?

Services are usually charged on an hourly basis with a minimum 1 hour charge. Quotes are a fixed firm price, unless extras are included along the way and these are charged accordingly or as discussed with the customer. We are always happy to negotiate prices depending on the size of the job and duration.

Is there a particular aspect of your trade or industry that you specialise in?

WA Plumbing works in ALL areas of Plumbing & Gas-fitting. We tend not to specialise in anything to much as over the years we have had experience in so many different fields.  If we had to pick a speciality it would be in Domestic Homes, whether that be New Homes, Owner Builders, Renovations, or general maintenance. But we like not the specialise in certain areas, instead we are happy to help in whatever your plumbing needs may be.

What experience, skills, qualifications or training do you have to make you the right person for the job?

WA Plumbing is a member of the Master Plumbers Association of Western Australia. We are a licensed plumbing contractor in all fields of plumbing and keep up to date with all the latest trends in the plumbing world.  We are also a certified waterwise business as can be found on the water corporations website.
