How did you decide to get into your line of work?

Accepted Answer

I was born into a world of food, family gatherings around the table meant everything to my family especially my grandparents Carmela (from Spain) and Eli (from Morrocco) (hance CarmEli) which I was very close with. Both were very passionate cooks and love maintaining the old fashion way as their parents used to cook using real fresh ingredients making everything from scratch.   I took their traditional cooking to the next level making it healthier, modern and unique, I have also invested many years in learning other cuisines and incorporating it into my cooking. I think the world is one and we all have something to contribute so why not making a celebration of flavours...

What do you like most about your job?

I love meeting the clients! I love the mmmm... or Yummm! I hear when they first bite on the food, it keeps me going and it makes me feel that all the hard work worth it, knowing I have made someone's event memorable worth more than all the money in the world.   I am very lucky to cater to clients from many cultures as Melbourne is excitingly mixed! The team and I get to experience many heartwarming moments which I don't think we would have if we were in a different industry, maybe not as much... hospitality is either in your blood or not and it's most definitely in mine <3

What questions should a customer ask to hire the right service professional?

I always recommend our clients to really put time thinking of the outcome they wish to have not all events are the same and rather than asking questions they should instruct better on what they really want for their special day.   For big events, I really recommend asking for a tasting test unfortunately these days many food photos look good and are not really good... if you are about to invest your savings make sure you are going to be happy with the result.   My last advice would be to ask if there are any hidden costs before you commit to anything this can include delivery, staff, set up, equipment hire and more.

How much food to buy? We normally recommend 6-8 pieces of finger foods per person (depending on the size) if it is a casual light serve event. Large events such as weddings etc with many drinks involved will require 8-10 or more depends on the size of the food.

To be honest I can go on and on about how much I care and love our clients and how I treat them all as friends and the list can go on... I really really think that the best way to learn about who I am is to actually read the reviews which are the only true indication of what makes me reliable or trustworthy those were written by others, not by myself.

Why should a customer hire you over another service provider?

I can only say because we are different.   *We treat you different, we are as clear as glass the prices are on our website very clearly, you do not need the hassle of emailing or calling back and forward over and over to get a quote, there is enough stress in planing an event so why making it harder.   *I will be the one you talk with (Halo) yes me the one to write this, this is a family business you will be talking with a human, not a computer or an email account or a chat messenger, and you won't have to read pages on pages of information because seriously who has the time for that! ask any of our previous clients, I take you personally and I do care DEEPLY!  *We really really do try to keep our prices low and be affordable, keep in mind the hard work that goes into every little bite you take... we sometimes work 13 hours straight in a day towards your event, we always use high-quality ingredients which cost us quite a bit and we really don't charge for many things we should charge for. If you need assistance still please communicate it and I will do my best to resolve it.   *Our staff is always happy and will bring the party to you, we maintain a loving caring work environment and it shows in the service I promise! What are the typical things that you need to know before you can provide a quote to a customer?

1. What would be your desired date (to know if we are free for service),  2. How many guests will be attending,  3. How much you wish to invest in your event,  4. Awareness of any food allergies,  5. Location of the event (although we serve most of Melbourne) 6. The style of the food (do you have a favourite and how fancy you want your menu to be)

How can a customer save money before you start the work? Please give 3 tips

1. You do not need grazing table to start your event with, it looks pretty but, unfortunately, many of the items get thrown to the bin after being displayed for several hours, Invest in a substantial menu instead.   2. If you are on a tight budget make your own cold nibbles to start with such as vegetable sticks and a bit of dip, that way you can save money on cold canapés. Avoid serving salty snacks such as chips, crackers etc... it is very filling and your guests would end up not enjoying the hot food you invested in.  3. Be desserts smart, avoid candy bars if not required or if you have a candy bar then avoid the desserts a cake is more then enough, these days many people avoid sugar.   4. Choose a caterer that would save you $$$ we supply with a free chef for all functions over 40 guests, free delivery, use of equipment, serving equipment and serviettes. All are included within the price you see on our website. In saying that when it comes to food the cheapest is not always the best, make sure you get good quality food in return to your investment.

*To make sure you enjoy a full culinary experience we promote having our kitchen staff to handle the food any of our packages for all events with 40 guests and over is including a chef and a delivery free of charge.   *We do not charge extra fees for special nutritional needs such as GF or vegan items.

What makes your pricing competitive?

*We are an Australian owned family business the food we serve is of top quality and is fully handmade, we work very hard to serve you with the best at affordable prices.   *A chef is supplied free of charge for all events with 40 guests and over, the reason for that is to make sure you can enjoy your event without working in the kitchen or worry about the food quality when served.   *Our staff is very affordable! when most charge you $60ph and a minimum of 4 hours we only charge $30 ph and a minimum of 2 hours by the Australian law. Basically our staff get what you pay, meaning we do not earn from the service of staff hire... Because we make sure our staff get paid well and keeping a happy work environment they are always happy to show up to work with a smile and therefore will make you and your guests happy, and for you, that means affordable service with a smile...   *Amongst those we also give you free delivery, use of equipment, serving equipment and serviettes, all are included within the price you see on our website.

We accept credit cards, bank transfers or online invoices. Our clients can choose which way is more convenient for them.

We specialize in Finger foods, Canapés & Tapas foodservice wise and Craft beers & beverages bar service wise. Our bar staff is RSA certified so your guests are safe and in good hands for a worry-free event.

We are Fully registered and our staff is qualified in food safety, bar service (RSA) and hygiene practises. We make sure that all of our workers are on the same page with work regulations. We have been in the industry for a while now and are rated 5 stars, I think that's a good enough sign :)
